Dear Friends,
On behalf of the Steering Committee for the South African event in 2013, it is my pleasure to invite you to the 11th Congress of the World Federation of Societies of Intensive and Critical Care, which will take place in Durban, South Africa, August 28th - September 1st 2013.
South Africa has long been a centre of excellence in the field of Intensive and Critical Care in Africa, and local talent has been combined with a long list of international speakers to create what promises to be an exceptional programme.
The focus of the scientific programme will be "Critical Care For All". We care because of the potential for simple critical care interventions to save many lives, or we may react from self interest: lack of health care and human well-being in the poorest of nations may directly affect us via the spread of infectious diseases or export of violent conflict.
This is will undoubtedly one of the best medical conferences in 2013 and an unprecedented opportunity to learn more about the application of critical care interventions in developing countries and how these apply in your own context. We also wish communicate with the international market place on the contributions and innovations we are making in the world of South African medicine.
Looking forward to your visit to our beautiful country!
